**A few notes about the virtual school visits**

Event Registration

We recommend using your first name and last initial when you register, especially for students. That way your full name won’t be displayed in the registered attendees section. Registrants will also be asked for their school name, but this information isn’t shared publicly or anywhere on Crowdcast. It’s just for us to give a shout-out to the schools tuning in if we have time!

Buying Books

At any time before, during or after the presentation, you can click on the link in the lower part of the Crowdcast screen to visit to buy a book from Alan’s local indie bookseller, Malaprop’s Bookstore. He’ll even sign it and personalize it for you!

How to Best View on Crowdcast

Crowdcast is similar to Zoom, but everyone doesn’t show up on the screen all at once. During the event, you’ll just see Alan and his presentation. The best way to watch and participate is on a computer. No download is required when watching on a computer; just click the link provided and watch the presentation in your browser. Google Chrome works best, but other browsers are supported. If you watch the event on a smartphone or tablet, you may not be able to use the Ask a Question feature unless you download the Crowdcast app in advance.

Q&A Time!

At the end of the presentation, Alan will open up the Ask a Question feature, so that everyone can ask questions. If you’re showing the presentation to an entire class at once, you may want to gather a few questions beforehand, so you’ll be ready when it’s time to type them into the Q&A!

The Ask a Question feature on Crowdcast allows viewers to “upvote” a question by clicking the arrow to the left of it. we won’t have time for everyone’s questions–sorry!–so be sure to upvote the questions you most want answered. Alan will answer as many questions as he can before once his presentation is over.

Thanks for joining Alan on this virtual adventure!
